Our Plans So Far...

We have begun to finalize our plans for our trip to the "Old West and back."

We are planning on going up the 5 to Oregon, a place callled "Whaler's Rest" which Kim visited in her youth. It's on the coast and we're there for 3 nights. Then we cross Wahington and Idaho on the 90 east, and camp outside Butte Montanta (a place called Anaconda). From there, we go to Cody, Wyoming (about an hour east of the Yellowstone) and spend five nights there. We are planning on renting a car ("anyone can make a reservation, but can you hold a reservation?")

From Cody we go to Deadwood, South Dakota and explore the black hills for five days (we're getting a car in Grand Rapids). Then we pass through Cheyenne, Wyoming on the way to Reno and home.

So far, RV: $47K, Estmated Fuel for the trip: $2K, 25 nights with two little dogs and two Bubs... priceless.

  1. You should tell the beginning of the story! We planned to go to another foreign country this summer but got scared when all the stories about kidnapping came out. So I suggested that we rent an RV! After some investigation I figured out that we should just BUY one!! So off we went to "look" at RV's. We talked on the way and had decided that the likelihood that we would purchase at the Fair was 80/20 against. Well 2 hours later and a phone call to my dad... we purchased a 26 & 1/2 footer (barely fits in the yard) Winnebago!!! With more upgrades that we figure out everyday!
So now you know the beginning... Now Joe's planning a 25 day trip to Yellowstone using my father's 1000 trails membership. By the time we are done we will have used it more than he has!!!
I can't wait to get on the road and send in funny pictures of us doing dumb things!!!

  2. Your Dad and I know you made the right choice by purchasing that motorhome. Now we have justification for Thousand Trails. This is going to be a great trip. The places you have chosen are some of the most marvelous places on earth. Go figure...right in our own backyard. Can't wait to see pictures and follow the blog. Who knows you may meet up with some familiar faces along the way. Love you guys and remember to have fun!
